It may have been written already, but it’s nice to be reminded again
While having a conversation with a close friend/relative, I found myself reflecting a lot about life and love and thought of these statements:
- Life isn’t always fair. Sometimes we forget that bad things happen to good people as well. The difference is that good people eventually bounce back from it and move forward. Good people give more of themselves in the long run and, as a result, live a fuller life.
- Sometimes, the worst of events can really bring out the best in us.
- No matter how much you love, trust and believe someone else, always leave a thought or moment to yourself.
- If there is a rule, it can be broken.
- Feelings are never right or wrong. It’s what we do about these feelings that determines the morality.
It's good to catch him off-guard at times
Him: (lies down next to me) Have I told you today that I love you?Me: Nope
Him: (frantically sits up) WHAT?! All day??
Me: *laughs*
Watch my little O :)
bounce baby, bounce, ba-bounce.
Well, not yet, I guess. :P
Let’s change the way we eat, let’s change the way we live and let’s change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn’t working so it’s on us to do what we gotta do, to survive.
Wow, Tupac couldn’t have said it better.
locks of love: is there a phone line to heaven?
It’s hard not to think of my lola when I say that I miss my family in Manila. She was the one who always reminded me that family comes first and foremost.
Prima, if you do find that phone line to heaven, please tell her that I miss her a lot, too.

My Open Letter to My Little O
In gathering my thoughts to explain how you have changed my life, I can definitely attest that being your mother is the hardest, most wonderful, and most amazing role I have taken. Most of these might not make sense to you now, but it’s true what they say: everything makes sense when the time comes for one to become a parent. Because of you, I will never see the world the same way again.
Even if you manage to sneak in 6 hour stretches of sleep at night, I cannot imagine myself falling asleep for more than 4 hours without checking if you’re alright. A whimper, a cry, a wail and a tiny cough would send me running to your direction. I would do anything to take away your pain. And when I watch you sleep peacefully, I wonder what I have done to deserve such a wonderful baby like you.
Altough you are still tiny, you have amazing strength. You already firmly stand on the ground and constantly reach for something to tightly wrap your little fingers around. Although limited in speech, your eyes say it all. You look at the world with such wonder and amazement by cooing and gurgling. And when you smile, oh when my little daughter smiles, it’s like the whole world has lit up and everything is good. I live for those tiny bursts of sunshine.
Every day you discover something new and amazing about yourself and the world. And when I see you grow like this—grow in such wonder, in love and in confidence—I cannot help but thank the heavens for you. It is humbling to be reminded by someone who is nothing but a minuscule fraction of my age that life is indeed very precious.
I know that there will be times that I would need to allow you to fall to realize your ability to pick yourself back up and move forward with confidence. How I wish that you would not go through hardships, however, these are inevitable. All I can do is prepare you for the world and hope that you choose what is good. And when the time comes that you try things on your own even without my consent, I pray that God guides you through these moments when I cannot be there to save you. Oh God, I pray that I will be ready when that day comes.
Because time flies by too fast to capture everything, next thing I know, you will be taking your first steps, speaking your first full sentence, going to school, chasing a career, and settling down to have your own family. But wait, my child. Before all of that, allow me first to enjoy these moments of cooing and crying. Let me hold you in my arms a little bit longer because I can wait a little while before you grow up.
Oh, Olivia, thank you. Thank you for opening my eyes and fattening my heart with so much love. I pray that I may never take for granted your smile, your affection and your love. May I never forget to tell you how much I love you. And I hope that you feel my love for you regardless of what age you are or where you decide to plant your roots. May your beauty in the inside always shine through your beauty in the outside—just the way God has created you. You are and will always be beautiful, wonderful and a blessing in my life. I love you.
My Favorite Animal
(emailed to me)
Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I said, “Fried chicken.”
She said I wasn’t funny, but she couldn’t have been right, because everyone else in the class laughed.
My parents told me to always be truthful and honest, and I am. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much.
I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal’s office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was.
I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like she’d asked the other children.
So I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken.
She sent me back to the principal’s office again. He laughed, and told me not to do it again. I don’t understand.
My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn’t like it when I am.
Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most.
I told her, “Colonel Sanders.”
Guess where the f#ck I am…???
Normally I am such a spoiler whore…but this is ridiculous.
